Snowdonia Aerospace Test Centre
AS the UK’s unique civilian aerospace test centre with the NOTAM activated EG D217 airspace complex it is not available to GA for most of the year principally due to RPAS flying.
PPR for visiting Company traffic and aircraft wanting Aerovolt aircraft re-charging must be obtained from the Aerodrome Manager.
PPR online may be available to GA at times published on this page. This might be for special flying events and or AFISO training. Please see Pooley’s or VFR Flight Guide for plates.
While the Test Centre is closed to GA it is important to note that it can remain open for Company traffic and based operators who will have had individual briefing and permission for each flight.

Danger Areas
The Special Use Airspace (formerly a Danger Area) is only ever activated by NOTAM and when active a FIS must be on duty giving a SUAAIS. A FIS may additionally operate at other times as needed including for FISO training.

With PPR permission, please make initial radio calls to Llanbedr Information or to Llanbedr Traffic as appropriate.
Operational Procedures
Standard overhead joins 2000ft agl., all circuits 1000ft.
Options:
- RWY 17/35, 15/33 and 23 downwind joins to the west acceptable
- RWY 05 base leg join to the west
Noise Abatement
- Please avoid overflying our neighbours.
- Avoid: Llanbedr Village, Dyffryn, Shell island.
- Avoid: straight in approaches to rwy 33.
- Left base final turns for 33 early and DO NOT CROSS the railway line
- Avoid: circuits off rwy 23 (flying school training accepted)
Fuel
There is currently no fuel available at Llanbedr.
Hangarage may be available.
The aerodrome is unlicensed – there is no fire cover.
Charges
This document sets out Snowdonia Aerospace LLP. All prices are inclusive of VAT. These charges are based on the operator using the airfield at their own risk with no services.
The runway charge is payable for all arriving aircraft and is assessed on the basis of the maximum take-off weight in tonnes.
